Digital Radiographs
Edgewood Veterinary Clinic provides quality digital radiographs to help diagnose a variety of conditions, including injuries, arthritis, and other bone and joint concerns. When additional expertise is needed, radiographs can be submitted for an additional fee to an IDEXX radiology specialist for review and interpretation.
We also offer PennHIP and OFA radiographs for orthopedic screening. PennHIP evaluates hip joint laxity and can help assess a young dog’s risk for developing hip dysplasia and arthritis. OFA radiographs are used to screen and certify hips and elbows for conditions such as dysplasia. These screenings are especially valuable for breeding dogs and can help owners make informed decisions about their pet’s long-term joint health.
In-House Laboratory & Bloodwork
Our Clinic utilizes IDEXX diagnostic technology to provide convenient, reliable in-house bloodwork and screening for our patients. Having diagnostic testing available in our clinic allows our veterinary team to quickly evaluate your pet’s health and make informed decisions about their care.
Wellness Bloodwork can help identify changes or underlying health concerns before your pet begins showing noticeable signs of illness. Our wellness testing may include a CBC and chemistry panel, providing valuable information about blood cells, organ function, hydration, blood sugar, electrolytes, and more.
Pre-Surgical Bloodwork is an important part of preparing your pet for anesthesia and surgery. Testing helps us evaluate areas such as red and white blood cells, platelets, liver and kidney function, and other values that may affect anesthesia and surgical care.
We also offer a variety of additional diagnostic testing, including:

CBC: Evaluates red and white blood cells and platelets, helping identify anemia, infection, inflammation, and other abnormalities.

Chemistry Panels: Evaluate organ function, including the liver and kidneys, as well as blood sugar, proteins, electrolytes, and hydration.

4DX Testing: Screens dogs for heartworm disease and three tick-borne diseases.

FIV/FeLV Testing: Screens cats for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukemia Virus.

Thyroid Screening: Helps evaluate thyroid function, particularly in older pets or those experiencing changes in weight, appetite, energy, or behavior.

Progesterone Testing: Helps monitor reproductive cycles and determine appropriate timing for breeding and reproductive services.
Whether your pet is here for a routine wellness visit, pre-surgical evaluation, illness, or reproductive care, bloodwork provides important information about your pet’s health that cannot always be determined through a physical examination alone. Our in-house IDEXX testing helps us detect problems earlier and provide timely, individualized care for your pet.

Our ultrasound services include pregnancy diagnosis, reproductive evaluation, and diagnostic imaging for cattle, sheep, goats, equine, and small animals. Ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that allows our veterinarians to evaluate pregnancy, fetal development, reproductive health, and internal structures.

Cattle: Performed as early as 30 days after breeding.

Sheep & Goats: Performed as early as 30 days after breeding.

Equine: Performed as early as 14 days after breeding, allowing for early pregnancy detection and reproductive monitoring.

Dogs: Performed at 30 days or later to help confirm pregnancy and evaluate developing puppies.
Ultrasound can be especially valuable for producers and breeders because early pregnancy detection allows for better planning and management. For equine and other reproductive cases, ultrasound can also be used for ongoing monitoring of the reproductive tract and pregnancy.
In addition to pregnancy diagnosis, ultrasound may be recommended as part of a diagnostic workup when a veterinarian needs a closer look at internal organs or structures. Our veterinarians can determine when ultrasound is appropriate based on your animal's history, physical examination, and individual needs.
